Calvin Choi Awarded “International Alumni Achievement Award” by the University of Waterloo
Recently, the Board of Governors and the School of Accounting and Finance of the University of Waterloo, the Canada's most technologically innovative university, has officially awarded the “International Alumni Achievement Award” to Calvin Choi, Chairman and CEO of AMTD Group, as a recognition to his outstanding achievements in entrepreneurship, technical skills, innovative spirit and social welfare. Dr. Feridun Hamdullahpur, President of the University of Waterloo, granted the award to Calvin Choi on behalf of the school.

Dr. Feridun Hamdullahpur expressed in his award presentation speech: Calvin Choi is an outstanding representative of the global entrepreneur alumni of the University of Waterloo. Calvin has made remarkable achievements in entrepreneurship, technological innovation and implementation, social progress and public welfare. Over the past five years, he has led the transformation and development of the AMTD Group by innovative finance, empowered by technological ecosystem, and successfully built a comprehensive and diversified enterprise group based in Hong Kong and connecting China and the world. The University of Waterloo insists on co-operative education with equal emphasis on learning and practice, and Calvin is the new-generation leader and representative of the Waterloo’s entrepreneurship.
Calvin Choi expressed his gratitude for the recognition and support from the university and Dr. Feridun Hamdullahpu during his award acceptance speech. As a leading international university, the University of Waterloo has performed excellently on promoting the development of innovative technologies over the past 60 years and has cultivated many outstanding entrepreneurs. AMTD shares the same vision and ambitions with the University of Waterloo, with the same goal of using technology to change the world and shape the future. He felt honored to receive this award.
