A First Look at AMTD New Movie Atonement
Following the release of “The Last Dance”, the highest-grossing Chinese-language film ever in Hong Kong film history, AMTD will present another Hong Kong film, “Atonement” to audiences in April 2025. The film is co-directed by Ronald Cheng and Mark Wu, and marks Ronald’s first film as a director, starring Ronald Cheng, Chrissie Chau, Philip Keung, Chao Jiang and Shunying Fu.
Atonement is inspired by true stories. It tells the story of a father named Ah Long who transforms into an avenger after his eight-year-old daughter being kidnapped by a human trafficking gang. Roland, known to audiences for his comedic image, has made a significant breakthrough in his role this time. To portray a vengeful father, he transformed his appearance by adopting a buzz cut for the first time in a film. He also increased his weight from 130 pounds to 160 pounds to achieve a rugged look for numerous fight scenes, which has become a major highlight of the film.
AMTD co-presented the movie with Universe Entertainment, Sil-Metropole Organisation, and Maoyan. The first trailer and poster are now unveiled with great fanfare.
