HK Youth FinTech Association Establishes Advisory Committee
The Hong Kong Youth FinTech Association was officially inaugurated during 2021 Hong Kong’s annual flagship FinTech event - HK FinTech Week. The inauguration was witnessed by distinguished guests including Mr. Yang Chengwei, Deputy Director General of the Hong Kong Island Sub-Office of the Hong Kong Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government; Mr. Song Lai, Deputy Director General of the Department of Youth Affairs of the Hong Kong Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government; Dr. Bernard Chan, JP, Under-Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR Government; Dr. Annie Wu, SBS, JP, co-Chairlady of AMTD Global Advisory Committee; Mr. King Leung, Head of FinTech of INVEST Hong Kong of the Hong Kong SAR Government; Mr. Dennis Chow, Deloitte China Chairman etc. The Hong Kong Youth FinTech Association is spearheaded by Dr. Calvin Choi, lead promoter and founding Chairman, with joint promoters also including the Hong Kong Youth Association, Greater Bay Area Young Entrepreneurs Association (“GBYEA”), Deloitte China, 36Kr, Zebras, FinStep Asia, Shared Value Initiative Hong Kong, and Regional Banks + Strategic Cooperation Alliance etc.
The mission of the Hong Kong Youth FinTech Association is to promote young people's financial literacy and interest in FinTech, encourage innovative and creative thinking, and foster a young and patriotic talent pool for the Hong Kong FinTech sector, in order to support and sustain Hong Kong’s position as a global financial centre, connect FinTech companies in Hong Kong across different industry sectors, and support Hong Kong’s development as aworld-class smart city.
Inorder to leverage on the expertise of distinguished leaders in Hong Kong's financial and technology fields, and to establish a platform to facilitate the cultivation of FinTech talents in the region, the Hong Kong Youth FinTech Association officially establishes an Advisory Committee - Dr. Calvin Choi, founding Chairman of the Association will serve as the Chairman of the Committee, other members include renowned professionals, leaders and experts asfollows:
● Dr. Eliza Chan, SBS, JP , member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the Permanent Honorary Chairman of the Hong Kong CPPCC (Provincial) Members Association;
● Dr. Timothy Tong, BBS, JP, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of the Council of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum and President Emeritus of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University;
● Dr. George Lam, BBS , Chairman of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited;
● Dr. Denis Yip , Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute.
The Advisory Committee will provide directions and suggestions on key issues such as the overall development strategy, young talent cultivation, and promotion of innovation and creativity through interactive sessions.
The Hong Kong Youth FinTech Association also pleased to announce the appointment of the following new Council Members:
